Kaindorf Games

Landing Page & Tournament Platform

Story

The Kaindorf Games are e-sports events initially held during the Corona lockdowns as a replacement for school Christmas tournaments. Over time, the project evolved into a private initiative. Initially, Microsoft Forms were used to manage registrations. However, the team soon realized that a website would be more efficient, as it would allow players to see who else was participating. Additionally, teams could be managed by players, and administrators would find it easier to provide centralized updates about the games. The website was developed using Vue.js for the front-end and FastAPI (Python framework) for the back-end. The UI/UX design was entirely created in Figma. Features for tournament participants include team creation and management, as well as profile management. For organizers, an admin panel was developed for tournament management.

Learnings

Since the website was developed from scratch and more back-end developers were involved than front-end developers, the front-end structure ended up being somewhat disorganized. To save time, the team didn't focus enough on a well-planned website structure. Additionally, while the UI design prioritized quick implementation, it did not focus on creating a clean and structured user experience, making screen development more complicated than necessary. It would have been far more beneficial to approach the UI/UX design with a solid design process and to better plan the front-end project as a whole.
